Dragonero – L’ascesa di Draquir

(2024)

Dragonero – L’ascesa di Draquir is a turn-based RPG with a strategic twist that will put you to the test: explore dungeons, plan journeys in an open world full of events and face dozens of enemies in turn-based battles. Follow the paths of different champions in this vast comic-style fantasy universe.

“This was my first professional experience in the game industry, and the first time I was able to apply my academic UX background to a video game. It allowed me to move beyond designing apps and websites and explore how UX principles can be applied to interactive game experiences.”

UX Design & Evaluation: Evaluated the game’s usability and immersion through hands-on testing, identifying areas for improvement and documenting proposed solutions with small prototypes.
Feature & UI Design: Designed the interface for a new Quest Wizard feature from scratch, defining its structure and interactions based on the game’s mechanics and available player actions.
QA & Programming: Tested the game ahead of release, reported and investigated bugs, and directly fixed selected issues. Implemented some of the UX improvements proposed during the evaluation.

The first screen of the editor shows the player a list of quests they have already created. Hovering over them will display a preview next to it. To add a new quest, click on ‘NEW QUEST’. To delete a quest, select the one you want and click on ‘DELETE’.
When deciding to create a new quest, the quest editor will open. On the left, there are general characteristics to set (quest type, description, reward upon completion, and the inn where it will appear), and on the right, you can add or remove phases to the quest.
Clicking on a phase in the previous screen will open the specific phase editor. A phase contains multiple tasks, and similarly to the phases, you can choose to add or remove tasks.
Clicking on a task will allow you to modify its type and the related characteristics. These characteristics can include the location where the task should be performed, the type of enemy to defeat, the type of item to deliver, the NPC to deliver it to, etc…
